Postdoc in Coastal Resiliency Planning & Policy
POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR, COASTAL RESILIENCY PLANNING & POLICY
INSTITUTE FOR SUSTAINABLE COASTAL COMMUNITIES
TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY
The Institute of Sustainable Coastal Communities (ISCC) at Texas A&M
University seeks a postdoctoral scholar to be part of a collaborative
venture to create a fundamentally different way to identify and tackle
critical coastal resiliency challenges that threaten human communities and
the integrity of natural systems.
These efforts will be undertaken through interdisciplinary, collaborative
partnerships that will be hosted at ISCC. The partnership will focus on
the *Integration of Hazard Mitigation and Land Use Planning into Coastal
Disaster Vulnerability Reduction and Adaptation*.
We seek a postdoctoral scholar who will be centrally involved in a
rigorous, national assessment that involves:
– Development of measurable indicators to quantify population, physical
development, and environmental/geophysical trends in coastal hazard zones.
– Development of a standardized method for quantitatively assessing the
effectiveness of hazard mitigation and land use policies to limit or reduce
development in coastal hazard zones.
– Engagement of local communities to develop and test policy
interventions to demonstrate the effectiveness of mitigation, and predict
future trends in vulnerability based on modeling of changes in hazard
exposure from climate change and urbanization.
– Participation in and support of the collaborative partnership on this
